One of the 300 remaining drive-in theaters in the United States finds its home on Highway on The North Andy Griffith Parkway (Hwy 52 North in Mount Airy, N.C. Since 1958, the number of drive-ins has dropped 87 percent from 4,063, according to the National Association of Theater Owners, but Mount Airy’s drive-in remains popular.

About Us
The Bright Leaf Drive-In was established in 1955. It has
been in operation since that date and is now under the
ownership of Jason and Nicole White.
The owners were previous employees of the Drive-In and had
a good idea of how everything worked. Then, when the opportunity
was presented to them about purchasing the business, they all
felt the option was too good to be passed up. Since early September,
2007, the husband-wife team has been working hard on keeping the drive-in a
viable outdoor cinema. Many improvements are underway as well.
The owners are in this for the long haul and hope that many of you
will come enjoy our nightly double features, and even triple features
on some weekends during the summer. During the late spring/summer
months, generally when school is out, we are open Tuesday-Sunday
and during the "off-season", when school is back in session, we reduce
our hours to only Thursday-Sunday.

The Bright Leaf Drive-In is open year round. During the late spring/summer

From I-77, exit onto I-74E and continue to US Hwy. 601
exit. Turn left and continue to US Hwy. 52N. Go approx.
1 mile and Drive-in is on the right just past junction with
NC Route 89.
From Winston-Salem, take US Hwy. 52N into Mt. Airy. Go
thru intersection of US Hwy 601. Drive-in is approx. 1
mile on the right just past junction with NC Route 89.
